Case study Use of MYSKILLSmanager SKILLcodes

ASBA Student working at Local Cafe.

Started work experience 12 month ago.

Started Working with and RTO (ASBA) 1 month ago.

Created a starting SKILLcode representing her Performance Skills when she first entered the workplace.

The second SKILLcode is her current status of her workplace learning for performance.

The SKILLcode has been emailed through our collaboration tools for Validation by the Owner.

Matts partner Katie’s comment after she saw the second SKILLcode result was that Bella has been working on Saturdays. She said that the Front of House Manager has be saying to the Owner that on Monday mornings when she comes in “the place is shining like a new pin”.

Not bad for one month’s training with the RTO.

One giant step for workplace skill recognition and our community.

Bella’s skill level selection for her second SKILLcode is believed to be adjusted marginly by Owner when he reviews her selections. This is the process where both parties can engage in conversation about Bella’s current performance skills utilisation. This type of conversation is a positive for both parties.

What is happening in this situation is Bella is learning how to perform her job role (meeting expectations).

Bella, could rapidly grow her capability and confidence to self-manage her workplace development (using validated SKILLcodes) to become a front of house manager in this business or another. Without RTO intervention.

Another benefit for Bella is she can use her knowledge of her transferrable performance skills to be able to win a job in a different industry.

Our framework enables Bella to carry her evidence and SKILLScodes forward into her new employment if required.
